Case III.
In 1970, a devout Lutheran woman who had suffered childhood abuse took a ride on a San Francisco cable car. The car malfunctioned and rolled backward causing the woman to hit her head on a pole. Thereafter, she claimed she developed an insatiable sexual appetite and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from the incident whereby she had slept with over 100 men, sometimes as many as 50 in one week. She sued the city claiming the incident had driven her to seek the comfort of men. A jury decided the matter and ruled:
A. For the city.
B. For the woman.
If for the woman, how much money was she awarded?
A. $1.00
B. $800,000.
C. $50,000.
D. $12,500.
